Details

These low-carb chewable calcium tablets were developed to conveniently meet multiple needs of the Bariatric patient. The flavors help the patient address ketosis breath and general breath odor, along with providing the most bio-available form of calcium and other nutrients that have been shown to support bone health. The delicious flavors are very low in carbohydrates and provides them with the most bio-available form of Calcium and other minerals that have been shown to promote bone health.

Key nutrients of The Bariaric Advantage Chewable Calcium Citrates - Chocoalate:

  • Calcium Citrate Repeatedly shown to be the most bio-available form of calcium. Calcium Citrate does not require an acidic environment for absorption, so it is an excellent choice after weight loss surgery. This form of calcium may protect against kidney stones, so it is safe to recommend to at-risk patients.
  • Magnesium Chelate Magnesium is important for bone health and supports calcium absorption. The amino acid chelate is easy to digest and is not likely to be irritating. Magnesium is also an important nutrient for cardiovascular health.
  • Vitamin D3 This natural form of vitamin D is readily converted to the active form needed for bone health. Vitamin D is needed both for calcium absorption and utilization. It is especially important to DS/BPD patients who have malabsorption of fat soluble vitamins.
  • Vitamin K Vitamin K plays an important role in bone health. Vitamin K is needed to synthesize osteocalcin, a major protein in bone. Low levels are associated with bone loss in men and women.

Bariatric Advantage Calcium Citrate, 400mg (90 Count)
by druth58 on 12/25/2008
This calcium supplement is very palatable. I especially like the cinnamon flavor. The vitamin D included with the calcium is D3 which I have recently learned is the best D supplement to take. Using this supplement 2 to 3 times a day is sufficient to maintain healthy calcium levels – my lab work has always come back with good levels.
The cinnamon is my favorite
by Tonia on 3/12/2008
At first the texture puts you off but these are great if you give them a chance! The cinnamon is my favorite because if you bite into it, which you're not supposed to do, it gives a bite back forcing me to let it dissolve as intended. They remind me of red hearts. The chocolates taste just like dutched cocoa, and when you can't have your choco fix this is a wonderful thing! The Wild Cherry which I thought would be my favorite are actually a bit sweet for my new palate. I haven't tried the mint. All in all I'm getting my calcium in a tasty treat AND they are 0 calories so it's a no brainer. The Citrical chews taste good, but they have 35 calories per chew... that's 105 calories you're wasting on your calcium supplement when you could be enjoying Bariatric Advantage lozenges instead!

Cinnamon Calcium Citrate

The Cinnamon is GREAT!!! I needed a change and thought I would try it. So glad I did. I usually use the chocolate chews and they are great too, but just wanted something different. The Peppermint is good, little like a tums. But, the Cinnamon is great if you like Cinnamon you will like this.
LOVE the Cinnamon flavor
by Jacks on 7/18/2011
I am the last person who remembers to take their vitamins. The cinnamon flavor is so good I actually look forward AND remember to taking them now. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs to take a chewable calcium.
sooo good!
by DenseW on 7/20/2011
Love the taste and it's an easy way to take my twice a day calcium. so much better than cutting huge tablets into pieces. Tastes like a chocolate treat.
C is for calcium...sadly not cookie
by reakin20 on 9/12/2011
So you have to take chewable vitamins.....less than exciting, yes? Your only hope is that you can find something you can choke down with out too much regurgitation, yes? Ok good, then this is the one for you. I have only ordered the chocolate one so far, but it really isn't bad.
Now lets not get our hopes up too much here people...this isn't a Hershey bar, its still a vitamin, but for a vitamin the flavor isn't bad.
Imagine if you will, someone busted open a packet of hot coco mix (sans mini marshmallows), threw in some calcium citrate/vit D and compressed it into a tablet as big around as a quarter and as thick as 3 quarters stacked on top of each other. Well then, you have successfully determined the size and flavor of the chocolate version of this supplement.
I totally would recommend it, the flavor isn't amazing, but can you really expect a vitamin based supplement to be out of this world? Probably not. Its not too chalky, and its a manageable flavor with a decent price. You should buy it.

This has been a life saver! I struggle with getting enough calcium in and this makes it easy for me to take while on the go. I am required to take a large amount of calcium and I can take these along as a snack and take them throughout the day until I have my amount in. The taste isn't bad either!
very good
by pam on 9/13/2012
I disagree with several of the others. I have tried chocolate and cinnamon and both are great. I look forward to my little treat. Yes they are I guess chalky but I also "used to" happen to like smarties which really have that same consistency.

I like these!
Pretty Good
by jec on 3/5/2011
Pretty Good. They are a little chalky, but have a good taste with a zap to it - not quite sour but it makes it much more pleasant. The tablets are huge and a serving of 3 a day is a lot to get down sometimes. (Updated on 3/6/2011.)
very good

very tasty & not too chalky!
Bariatric Advantage Calcium Citrate, 500mg
by Jenni on 8/30/2012
I ordered the Cinnamon flavor tabs even after reading reviews of how strong some thought they were and I really like them. You can expect a calcium supplement to have a chalky taste, but this is much better and I don't feel like I am eating calcium. Definitely recommend.

I ordered the Cinnamon as I saw good reviews on it. If you like Cinnamon HOT candies, you will like. I thought they were really hot and found out I need to take smaller bites. It is not like the candy of course but they are still good. Would like to try other flavors.
Buy Cinnamon
by Angel on 1/5/2012
I have tried chocolate, cherry, and cinnamon. The cinnamon good & I continue to buy it. The others are awful.
Much Better
by QTalley on 6/18/2012
I recently refilled my supply of the calcium citrate with the Cinnamon flavor tabs. This flavor is much tastier than the almost inedible chocolate ones. To be fair, the chocolate tabs seemed okay the first two weeks or so, but after that I found them to be intolerable. The Cinnamon flavor tabs on the other hand are tasty and much easier to tolerate for long periods of time. I actually look forward to taking these tabs in a way I never looked forward to taking the chocolate tabs.
Calcium - chocolate
by ladielake on 6/13/2012
Definately would not take these for pleasure, but not bad as a necessary supplement. Like getting easy to digest chewables!
It will work.
by Tammie on 11/30/2013
This takes an acquired taste. It is decent, but takes time to kind of grow on you. It has been a year since my Gastric Bypass. I had the Roux-en- Y but I seem to be tolerating everything from the beginning.
chocolate chalk- horrible
by indywitch on 6/29/2012
I got the chocolate calcium and have never tasted something so gross-- think chalk mixed with unsweetened hershey baking cocoa. Given how big these are and trying to swallow them I feel (and look) like a cat about to [get rid of] a fur ball. I am ordering a different flavor and getting rid of these...and try a different flavor.
Chewable Calcium Tablets
by Laura on 1/5/2015
Chocolate flavor is very good, but tablets are so large and very chalky. It takes a long time to get the chalky stuff out if your teeth and it's so dry, it almost gags you. I am impressed with the flavor though, these would be great if they weren't so hard to get down.
Chalky and Awful, but bearable
by Uchenna on 7/30/2015
I'm seeking alternatives because although it isn't unbearable to use, it is chalky and unpleasant.

The sheer size of it is uncomfortable and how it dissolves in the mouth is just....eeek! Not my thing.

However, it's not the worst thing I've ever tasted.
Okay, at best...
by Elizabeth on 12/21/2015
I ordered the chocolate and the first few days, I thought they were okay. After that, just the thought of having to chew another one made my stomach turn. I will continue to try to find something that doesn't make taking my daily calcium feel like an ordeal...

Like Eating Pure Chalk
by Pat_G on 4/22/2010
These sounded so promising, and I had been missing the taste of chocolate, but eating these lozenges was no more pleasant than eating a large stick of chalk from the blackboard. I tried to get used to them, but they were truly awful, and I threw the whole container out. On the other hand, the chewables are great in chocolate and lemon, just not as much calcium citrate as the chalk!
overwhelming !!
by jojo on 2/14/2011
This product is barely edible. Even being a lozenge, it is overpowering in its taste AND aftertaste. If you place it in the pill dispenser, the flavor permeates the other pills and medicines. I can't wait to finish the bottle so I will not have to taste this product again.

Regretfully - Joanne
Bad Calcium Citrate
by on 8/30/2012
I ordered Chewable Calcium Citrate Lozenges wild cherry. What I received was chalky horrible tablets. I thought I had ordered wrong so I tried again and definitely clicked on lozenges, chocolate due to the revues. Again, I received chalky gross huge tablets. I called and spoke to a very nice person who indicated this is what they are selling now. Not lozenges. I am returning these two bottles right away.
This product is awful!!
by twilkerson on 8/30/2012
I would not recommend these to my worst enemy!! I got the chocolate flavored ones thinking it would be sorta a snack for me...but boy was I wrong. They taste like you have a mouth full of unsweetened cocoa!! The powder in the chewable pill is so strong that it nearly chokes me!! I am trying to choke them down so I don't waste my money, but not sure if it's gonna happen!!
Didn't like this product
by Angel on 7/1/2012
The cinnamon calcium citrate chewable tablets were awful. When you first put them in your mouth they are a bit refreshing and then WOW it hits you, they are really chalky. I also purchased the chocolate and haven't tried them yet will write a review when I do..... (Updated on 7/2/2012.)
