Directions

MICROWAVE

  1. Pour contents of packet into a bowl.
  2. Add 2/3 cup water and stir until blended. Use less water for thicker oatmeal or more water for thinner oatmeal.
  3. Microwave uncovered on High for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes until thickened.
  4. Let stand until desired consistency. Handle carefully, bowl may be hot.

CONVENTIONAL

  1. Pour contents of packet into a bowl.
  2. Add 2/3 cup of boiling water while stirring. Use less water for thicker oatmeal or more water for thinner oatmeal. Continue stirring until completely dissolved.
  3. Let stand 1 minute before eating.

I liked all of the flavors, but I especially like the regular flavor with a spoonful of low sugar strawberry jam stirred in. These keep me full for hours.

this is the best! I actually add more water than they suggest because it helps plump up the dried apples. Definitely a keeper.

I truly love this product. The serving size is small but it keeps you satisfied until late morning. I like the taste, the texture could be better, but overall I am very pleased with this product.

I love this. It's my favorite breakfast. I eat it twice a day EVERY day. Keeps me full and It's just the right amount as I am 2 years post op from RNY (Updated on 4/2/2011.)

I like to make 2 packages. I like mine sweeter so I add sugar free brown sugar cinnamon syrup and some brown sugar splenda. The maple is my fav, but I enjoy the apple one and even have mixed one of each. I use a little less water and then add the syrup.

These little packets are great to take to work with trying to get myself done as well as my kid and get to work on time I was not eating breakfast at all. I take the packet with me, just add hot water and voila! A protein packed, good tasting, breakfast!

It's light and filling. I've always enjoyed eating oatmeal and on my diet I can continue my mornings with my apple/cinnamon oatmeal. Great product.

I have only had the maple/brown sugar flavor, but I loved it. Tasted pretty much like the non-diety instant stuff. The only complaint I have is the serving is SMALL. Even with gastric bypass it's really meager! I will order again, though. As a snack it's great.
My favorite breakfast

I've only tried the regular flavor, but I find it plenty tasty. As others have noted, one packet makes a pretty small serving. It would have been more than enough in the first year following my RNY surgery, but several years post-surgery, I prefer two servings prepared with a little extra Splenda (it already contains sucralose) and two Tbs. of skim milk (in addition to the water.). The best thing is how filling it is. Last month my doctor ordered a fasting blood draw. Unfortunately, I knew I couldn't get to the lab until after lunch time. I ate my two packets of oatmeal at midnight, went to bed and awoke at my usual time, and easily managed to fast until 2:00 the following afternoon --- without feeling hungry!

maple brown sugar flavor

I just tried the maple brown sugar flavor. I thought it was very good. The texture was a little runny, but I let it sit about a minute after I got it out of the microwave and it thickened up nicely. I thought it tasted great...like oatmeal but not quite as sweet as the real stuff... but I liked that about it. Perfect serving size for postop RNY patients. It filled me up nicely, and an hour later I'm still feeling quite full but not uncomfortable. I've bought the apple cinnamon too. Can't wait to try that one tomorrow morning! I'll definitely buy it again.

I ordered a sample of the Maple & Brown Sugar. I prefer making mine with skim milk instead of water. (I add a little extra milk too because I like mine more runny) This didn't have a lot of flavor, but I added some cinnamon & a packet of splenda and it was pretty good. Another good way to add protein to your diet.

Small but good

The oatmeal is a small serving but tastes good. Be careful not to add too much water because it wont thicken up then and is more like a drink. I would add less water if anything.

This is definitely great for post-op RNY bariatric patients like myself. I am 5 months out of surgery and this is the PERFECT serving size. I had the maple sugar oatmeal this morning and it was great. Filled me right up (in a good way, not that overstuffed feeling we post-op patients can sometimes get!). The only reason I didn't give it a full five stars was because it wasn't quite sweet enough for me. Next time I will probably add a packet of splenda and it will be perfect! (Updated on 10/7/2010.)

Tasty and enjoyable . The serving is small and sometimes I get hungry a few hours later.

Great to use when traveling . I just packed 21 serving into my suitcase for a trip to the West coast. Keeps me from straying too far off of my daily routine while I am away.
High Protein Breakfast

I was looking for something "different" for breakfast. I am tired of the same old thing and I'm not a breakfast person to begin with. I wanted something high protein. I tried the Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal. I like the fact I pop in the microwave a measuring cup of water, boil in 25 seconds, and viola, breakfast is ready. The serving size is a little on the small side, so some nice fruit would compliment the breakfast. At first it has an "off" taste, but after about 3 bites you are used to it. It's not a bad flavor, just different. You can really taste the maple and brown sugar. I will def be purchasing this again.

It's not the "name-brand" but after a packet or two you get used to it. It helps me get to my protein goal. I like the apple-cinnamon the best.
A good breakfast option

I ordered the BariWise Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal after weight-loss surgery as an alternative to the nasty protein shakes I was so tired of drinking. Preparation is super-quick and easy and portion size is perfect! The texture of this oatmeal is somewhat lacking, but it's such a small portion that it doesn't really bother me. If it does bother you, I think you could mix in some sturdier oats - I just haven't. The taste is slightly sweet but not overwhelmingly so. A welcome change from the nasty protein shakes I am so accustomed to drinking. Will be ordering again! Great option to have!

This is OK with me, it gives you the protein but the taste and texture leave something to be desired. I make "real" oatmeal in advance and mix it with this for a tolerable high protein breakfast.

I have only tried the Maple-Brown Sugar and the taste was fine but the texture was mushy and just not quite right. I have wondered about mixing with a pack of regular oatmeal to stiffen it up. And I do agree the portion is really small but I am in my first year post-bariatric surgery so it is plenty at the moment.

I have been really happy with every product I have tried but this one.

It just didn't taste right and it was hard to get the consistency right with the added protein.

I got a sample of the apple cinnamon and it was no good. The chunks of apple tastes like plastic pieces and the oatmeal was way too thick. I would like to try the other flavors, but this one was bad enough that I will probably try it in another brand.

I LOVE oatmeal and was really excited about trying this to be totally disappointed! I couldn't get the first spoonful down. It had a gritty taste and no matter what I did it just wasn't good. I'll stick to my Quaker Oats.

I prepared the oatmeal in the microwave and a disgusting skin formed. It was inedible!! I gave it another try and just added boiling water and it was a little better but I would NEVER order this again
