3 out of 5 stars Maple brown sugar & cinnamon spice
by mike from CA on 1/22/2012
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
First Attempt: Made the mistake of microwaving this oatmeal with water in it (like i do with the other brand) all it did was inflate to become a foam that was inedible. Second attempt: added already boiling water, too much, wouldn't bind and it looked like a lumpy soup. (Take note of the common theme here, this stuff doesn't bind like real oatmeal does) Third Attempt: (Hey i paid for two boxes, I'm going to get my moneys worth). I slowly added boiling water while stirring. VERY SLOWLY, stirring only as much as needed. Waited one minute (per the instructions) and it's more like a lumpy paste than oatmeal, but the flavor is okay. I'm 3 months out from the surgery and this is on the list of things that's not too bad compared to some of the other "Recommended" stuff. I always end up adding a bit of cinnamon to add some more flavor. Cin & Spice is bland, but Maple Brown Sugar is spot on.

I didn't like the consistency of this at all. It's like eating flavored paste and the flavor isn't all that great either. No go for me.

1 out of 5 stars Just like the Matrix
by Greay from Maryland on 1/24/2011
Recommends it to Friends: No
I'm sure this would have been awesome right after surgery. Over two years out and used to more regular foods, this just does not cut it. It has the look and consitency of gruel (it's actually gray in color) and it's what I imagine the stuff they were eating in the Matrix was like. To be fair, I've only tried the ProtiDiet brand oatmeal and only the cinnamon flavor. (Updated on 1/24/2011.)

4 out of 5 stars Good, not great
by Danielle from on 8/4/2010

I do like this option compared to other meals I have tried. I have to disagree with the official description. It has neither the texture nor the flavor of normal oatmeal. However, that has not caused me to stop eating it. I do prefer the maple brown sugar to the apples and cinnamon and I have yet to try the cinnamon spice. This is definitely one of my favorite Proti meals.

4 out of 5 stars Apple & Cinnamon Oatmeal
by Julie from Stratford, CT on 5/13/2008
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
I regularly have the Apple & Cinnamon and the Cinnamon Spice. For the most part, I like them both... alot better than some of the other protein brands of oatmeal. However, after I cook them, I ALWAYS mix with some maybe 1/3 cup ready made vanilla shake (like the "Anytime" shake). I think it makes a HUGE difference!

1 out of 5 stars Too sticky
by Alexandra from Rialto, CA on 4/7/2008

I purchase 4 boxes of this instant oat meal and I would not recommend it to anyone. Once prepared it's too sweet and once you take a bite it sticks to your teeth and its anoying especially if you are at work, in a office. The texture once prepared looks like baby food not like actual oatmeal. I have tried other Proti 15 brand oat meal and it was much better then this. I will return all unopened boxes.
