Poor source of protein

These protein shots are a poor source of protein. They contain mostly collagen protein, which is an incompletely protein, meaning it does not contain all of the amino acids we need. It is just not absorbed well. You will get very little protein out of these things. They do contain a little whey isolate which you will absorb, but not enough to make it worth the cost of them. They are a waste of money.

I'm three weeks post op and still experiementing with all the different ways to get my protein in.I don't mind shakes but i wanted to find an easier way to up my protein intake.I have tried the fruit punch and the orange so far.Both of them were horrible!They are way too sweet and do leave a funky after taste.The smell alone made me gag already.
But what might not work for me might work for someone else

This is a good product. Orange tastes like drinking pee. Grape is ok, blueberry is not as good. Have not been able to get fruit punch.

It is thick and very sweet. It is not the best tasting thing I have ever had, but it is ok, and is very helpful to have on those days one needs to boost the protein intake. These will be a regular on my orders in the future. They have been a lifesaver on some days.

I am post bariatric surgery (2 years now) and my daily requirement for protein is at least 100 mg. The best protein for my body is the whey, which is usually the worst tasting no matter what brand it is. Then I discovered these protein vials from Bariatric Choice. They are the absolute best tasting whey protein I have ever tried! I have been using this product for several months now...I just add a little bit of a vial in with my daily water intake and use up one vial throughout the day. The rest of my needed protein I can get through food. I work out daily also so this protein is also mixed in with the water bottle I take to the gym. I find it is too sweet to just drink straight out of the vial. But, mixed with water, it is wonderful! I have recommended this product to my friends, whether they are post bariatric or not. Whey protein is the best for every body! I love it...I find the fruit punch to be my favorite.

I enjoyed the previous flavour of these New Whey drinks. This new flavouring is too sweet for my liking. I do mix them with cold water as I did with the previous ones but still too sweet for me! I am giving the ones I have left to someone else who appreciates sweet!

Amazing Product

After surgery this was the only protein supplement I could get down without feeling sick. I don't know what I would have done if it weren't for this product. I personally prefer the Blue Rasberry and Grape flavors. The taste isn't that fabulous, but they don't have that horrible protein smell or aftertaste. They tend to thicken up in the fridge so I take them at room temp. The fact that they are premixed with a resealable cap made it easy for me to take it 2 oz at a time during that 1st week. Wish they were a little cheaper, however I will continue to purchase them. (Updated on 4/18/2009.)

Worth The Cost

I have been using New Whey since my WLS in 11/08 and it has been the only protein that I can stomach to keep down. It doesn't taste all that great but I would rather it not taste all the great than to lose muscle mass and get sick from malnutrition. I have tried the "Fruit Punch" (not my favorite); "Grape" (not too bad); "Orange" (ewww); I am thinking of ordering the "Blue Raspberry" this go around. I also order by the cases, again, its worth the cost verses ill health, this is why I had the WLS done, because of my ill health, so I am not going to risk it over money.

great protein - harsh taste

I recommend these Protien shots for those who desperately need to hit their protien requirement and are struggling with food. However, the taste is difficult to swallow. So highly consentrated they taste like thick cough medicine syrup. Diluting them in water, only makes the taste worse. A friend of mine suggests chilling them, and downing them as fast as possible like a shot. Not a good choice for those with a weak gag reflex.

I've been drinking these for 8 months. They taste like liquid jello & are easy to swallow. My favorite flavors are grape, blueberry & orange. Didn't like fruit punch. I have 1 per day after my workout (30 min. - 1 hour). They help me meet the required protein intake, each day.
