Great
by STANCA on 3/24/2013

Almost TOO tasteful for a weight-losing diet; I have bought several flavors, ALL ARE VERY GOOD.

CarbRite Bars

I only tried one flavor, but I disliked it enough that I probably won't try any of the others. A very chalky taste.

Best I've found
by exercisegirl on 3/18/2012

These bars are great, they taste great and provide lots of protein. I prefer the chocolate brownie and the S'mores flavor. No after taste and they are not grainy. Love these bars!!

Won't buy again

I only tried one flavor, but won't try any more. There are SOOO many really yummy protein bars that I won't waste my calories on one I don't enjoy!

High protein, low carbs, no artificial sweeteners
by AV on 4/20/2010

I can't do artificial sweeteners (they make me feel sick), so I have been on the lookout for high-protein, low(er)-carb bars that don't have sucralose, aspartame, or acesulfame-k.

The S'Mores, Chocolate Mint Cookie, Chocolate Brownie, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Banana Nut flavors of these bars are all 190 calories with 21 grams of protein (so, 44% of calories from protein). For those doing "net carbs", the majority of carbs are from sugar alcohols, so the net is pretty low (~2 grams). So I tried all of the flavors mentioned above (except for Chocolate Mint Cookie because I'm not a fan in general of Chocolate Mint).

The texture is pretty much the same for all of them...kind of like a stiffer Three Musketeers bar. For flavor, the S'Mores was my favorite. It was sweet but not overly so, had a hint of marshmallow and graham cracker, and was minimally chemical-tasting. My next favorite was the Banana Nut, which was surprising since banana-flavored stuff can usually be weird tasting. This banana flavor wasn't bad at all--very banana-like. The Chocolate Peanut Butter had the most chemical taste to me, but even then it wasn't super-strong. The Chocolate Brownie is dense with chocolate, but it didn't blow me away. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the first flavor I'd want to grab again. My guess is because I'm a chocolate snob, and, while this bar has a lot of chocolate flavor, it just didn't taste great to me.

I was hungry relatively soon after eating these than with soups, egg whites, or some other bars, which was a little disappointing considering these bars are almost 200 calories each. However, the high protein content was great. I knew I didn't have to worry about getting enough protein with these. I didn't have any stomach problems with the sugar alcohols, which was one of my main concern with trying these bars.

I'd definitely limit these to once a day or less, though, due to the hunger issue. Recommended for travel or if you're having difficulties getting enough protein in your day.
