Bariatric Advantage Sublingual Vitamin B12 - (90 Count)
90 Tablets Per Bottle

Flavor: Cherry.

Absorption of vitamin B12 is a complex process that relies heavily on a healthy, intact gastrointestinal system. Contact time in the stomach and upper region of the small intestines is particularly important, thus individuals who have undergone bariatric surgical procedures may be particularly prone to deficiency. Deficiency of B12 can lead to conditions such as anemia, nervous system dysfunction, and cardiovascular disease.

Sublingual (under-the-tongue) supplementation of B12 has been shown to provide good protection against B12 deficiency, and can be an excellent alternative to or addition to periodic injections.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent B-12 Supplement Post-Bariatric Surgery
by Michelle from Dayton, OH on 7/31/2011
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
Had Roux-En-Y in November 2010 and lost more than 120 pounds in next 6 months (283 pounds to 163 pounds). B-12 levels were never an issue because this was waiting at home ready to take when I came home from the hospital. Would recommend to anyone concerned about maintaining excellent B-12 levels for health and energy.

These are the best I have ever had. Small, tasty and easy to take. I put one in my mouth as I start my drive to work every morning. Best news, according to the lab results my doctor reviewed he was pleased with my blood levels for B-12.

5 out of 5 stars great product!

I had bariatric surgery 2 and 1/2 years ago. My b-12 levels have always been great - this product was recommended by the clinic that performed my surgery and I've taken it since the beginning. I tried one other brand and it melted more quickly but I prefer this one especially after reading that by melting under your tongue more slowly, you absorb more. Great taste and great results!

I have never had any problems with my B12 levels since using this product. It bothered me somewhat at first putting a tablet under my tongue but I am so used to it now that it is not a problem. I like the flavor too.

5 out of 5 stars Slow Dissolve is Important Advantage
by Phillip G from Clayton, NC on 8/23/2009
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
Reenie from FL suggested a faster dissolving tablet would really be a plus. Here's the reason a "slow dissolve" is better: Once swallowed, the absorption of vitamin B12 is highly dependant on the stomach – requiring specialized proteins such as Intrinsic Factor for absorption. Sublingual preparations, which are absorbed in the mucosa of the mouth, have been shown to be effective in the prevention and treatment of B12 deficiency. Many sublingual vitamin products dissolve rapidly in the mouth allowing most of the vitamin to be swallowed. This is not optimal in individuals with malabsorption where the goal is to assure absorption in the mucosa of the mouth. The Bariatric Advantage formula is designed to dissolve over several minutes, allowing for optimal absorption. For greatest comfort, it is suggested that the tablet be placed between cheek and gum rather than under the tongue.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing product!!

This is the best sublingual B12 available!! I've tried the quicker-dissolving pills from Trader Joes, but they make me *cringe* (horrible taste) and turn my mouth pink. I'm 6 years post-op, and will continue to use these as long as they're available!!
